Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness.

My Approach
My name is Shirley (she/her) and I believe in the power of vulnerability and human connection to bring about change. Life is messy, and given the intersections of who we are, what we’ve experienced, and what we want for ourselves, we’re not supposed to go it alone. You deserve to feel supported, and my mission is to help you find what you’re looking for, whether that’s clarity, understanding, hope, compassion, sense of direction, wellness, healing or growth.
I’m passionate about working with youth and adults from all walks of life, and especially BIPOC. My lived experience as a second generation Chinese-Canadian lends much empathy and insight to cultural challenges that impact family dynamics, career aspirations, social interactions, self-discovery and personal development.
I take pride in being a warm, non-judgmental, practical, and authentic counsellor that infuses humour and profanity as necessary. I provide care that is trauma-informed and goal-oriented such that it incorporates your unique needs. The work we do may draw from various modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Ultimately, it is my hope that our time together will help you feel seen, heard, and respected. Come as you are and let’s figure out the next steps together.
